First day in Rome
After a very long day of traveling and lots of sleep, on my first full day in Rome my roommates and I went exploring. Our apartment is about a ten minute walk from Piazza di santa maria in trasevere, which is where the school is located. So early afternoon we spent wandering the streets of our neighborhood, we climbed a nearby hill and from there were able to see most of the city. At the top of the hill was the tiny cathedral of San Pietro, this small but gorgeous building that fits in the court yard of another building, unfortunately it was closed this morning so we couldn't get a tour but on our way up the hill were beautifully carved images of the stations of the cross. The weather was perfect for walking and after a while we had a late lunch at a small restaurant a block from our apartment. it was delicious and very filling. Since we have nothing planned with the school today we plan on crossing the bridge into the city proper later this afternoon, after the cultural nap time.

I loved the part about the cultural nap time. It seems that they've got that instituted at college but not too many other places in the U.S...
